Richard was swimming under water in the lake by his dock when he felt his wedding band slip off his finger. He and his wife, Alyssa, looked hard and long for the ring, but it was lost in the silt at the bottom of the lake.
Alyssa called me and I agreed to come out that afternoon to hunt for the ring. There were quite a few old cans in the water and visibility was poor, due the silt I stirred up digging. After about 90 minutes, my floating sifter was full of old cans, can lids and shotgun head stamps. I finally dug the ring about 6 feet away from the dock in about 4 feet of water.
I hid the ring in my sifter amongst the trash and walked back to the dock. When I arrived, I set my sifter on the dock and told Richard that he should look through the trash in case his ring was there. Richard and Alyssa were thrilled to have the ring back and so was Richard’s mom, who was very nice to have there because she was very encouraging.
