Buried Urn found, Knoxville, TN

  • from Knoxville (Tennessee, United States)

I was contacted by a gentleman who buried his father’s ashes 34 years ago. They were placed in a bucket and buried 3 feet deep. A tree was planted with the ashes in remembrance.  Over the past 34 years it became hard to tell exactly where his ashes were exactly.  It was even thought maybe the tree grew over the bucket.  The decision was made to recover his ashes and take them to the ocean and set him free. The tree was removed and the stump grinded down but no sign of the bucket.  I was called out to see if I would be able to find the urn. I was abit concerned on how deep my detector would detect but luckily I was put in a close proximity and was able to detect what I believe was the metal handle on the bucket maybe the urn. As we were digging there were some roots in the way so we decided to chop them with an ax.  It’s hard to explain but while chopping one of the roots I could hear what sounded like the reverberations of a empty bucket, I knew we were close.  After some perseverance we found the bucket and were able to remove it. It felt great to give the family closure.
