Man Loses Wedding Band After Canoe Capsized in Lake Nipissing, North Bay, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Eric headed north from Hamilton to see his Family in North Bay, Ontario.

He decided to go for a canoe paddle but unfortunately the canoe capsized and Eric’s ring slipped off his finger into 5′ of water near the Sunset Beach boat launch.

Eric contacted me and I went up on a beautiful sunny day as I was off on holidays. I managed to ask two complete strangers Don & Barb local North Bay residents to be my safety spotters while I search for the lost ring.

A few items were found such as a fishing lure, a Medic Alert bracelet (which I tried to return) a number of trash items and after an hour and a half I finally had a beautiful solid tone on my underwater metal detector!

Thankfully, this was Eric’s 14k gold wedding band with the identifying marks of a MAPLE LEAF.

Don, Barb and I then proceeded to FaceTime Eric to surprise him with the good news!

Thank you to the completed wonderful strangers North Bay residents Don & Barb for agreeing to be my safety spotters. Also, thank you to the ring owner Eric and his Wife Megan for your generous donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation! My reward goes to this amazing charity which I have been involved in for 15 years.

1940’s Family Heirloom Ring Recovered from the shores of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Laura had received a beautiful 18th Birthday gift of her Great Grandmother’s ring which dated back to the 1940’s ear a couple of years ago.

Laura and her dog was visited the dog beach portion at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park the day prior. Her dog was running off into the water with leash attached and she felt that the ring must have slipped off as her finger as it was catching the leash.

After starting the search, our first find was a small ring. Unfortunately, this was not Lauren’s ring. Hopefully we can get that ring back to the owner through social media posts.

The next target was a pull tab and finally the next target was the beautiful 1940’s amethyst gold heirloom ring!

Lauren and her Mother both saw the glimpse of gold and we all shouted with excitement and relief.

The key to this successful ring recovery was getting the the location as soon as possible after it was lost and the strict tight grid search!

Thank you so very much Lee & Lauren for your generous donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation.

Visiting Family in Ontario Man loses wedding band in the waters of Georgian Bay, ON

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

I received a Facebook message from a City of Brampton co-worker Jayne L that her Vancouver, British Columbia Cousin Joel W was in town visiting Family back in Ontario. The Family gathered at their Mother’s home in The Blue Mountains, Thornbury, Ontario.

Joel and the Family were having a great time. He was out in Georgian Bay on the paddle board when he suddenly fell off. Joel watched his tungsten wedding fall off his finger to the depths below approximately 350′ from shore.

A few weeks passed and Jayne and her Mother (Carolyne’s Sister) were up visiting her Aunt Carolyne, (Joel’s Mother). Aunt Carolyne told them what happened to Joel’s wedding band. Jayne immediately advised her Aunt about her co-worker Alison that is registered with The Ring Finders and does land and water ring searches. Jayne left me that message to contact her Aunt ASAP.

I called Carolyne the next morning and made arrangement to be at her location in a few hours after getting my scuba tanks filled in Parry Sound.

Here’s a link to the video from my YouTube channel;

The underwater scuba detecting ring recovery took approximately 50 minutes. Much to the astonishment of Carolyne it was pure joy as that day August 13th was Joel & Victoria 7th wedding Anniversary!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. #OutOfTheDogHouse

Young man lost wedding band in water Tiny Township, Penetang, ON

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

I received a message from a young man Logan McD that I went to school with his Parents and they suggested he contact me to help find his lost his wedding band lost in waters of a private beach in Tiny Township (Penetang).

I headed up after work as severe thunderstorms were moving into the Ontario area. Met Logan at his Father-in-Laws home and quickly proceeded to the area. After 15 minutes…..my Minelab Excalibur 2 went off and had the ring in my sand scoop. Proceeded quickly back to shore and had to rush off to another water ring recovery a little further north.

Grateful to Logan’s Parents my old High School Friends Sandy & Christy for the recommendation and Logan’s donations!!

Canada Day Man lost wedding band at Wasaga Beach, ON

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Received an email through the ring finders late evening on Canada Day that Aneta & Tom had been building sand castles and throwing a little football around the waters of Wasaga Beach. The Wasaga Beaches are 14kms of fresh water beaches 1 through 6.

I met them there after being in the water at Wasaga Beach #1 for approximately 11 hours with the Minelab Excalibur2 and my T-rex sand scoop.

We walked aways to the location of the sand castles area where they were sitting. I widened my grid area and then decided to head into the water. Aneta went back to my truck for my headlamp to make the search easier. My first target about mid calf deep was Tom’s 14k white golf wedding band approximately 30′ from shore!! So as I normally do….I waited till she arrived back, started a video and proceeded back out to retrieve it….that was a quick one. A very happy couple as the wedding band is very sentimental. The couple graciously sent in a donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Found!!

Here’s the late night video…

Pike Lake, Minto, Ontario~2nd visit~Lost gun metal wedding band in the water 2nd time back!

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

2017-09-25 Pike Lake, Minto, Ontario (2nd visit back)

So the August 14th, 2017 Ring recovery & return for Heather R’s late Uncle Paul was sent around via email to all the trailer owners/members at the Pike Lake Private Community. One of the trailer owners Shawn H had just read the story.  Shawn and his Family were having fun in the water slide and Shawn’s hand caught the loop on the water slide. He watched his unique « gun metal » wedding band with 3 black diamonds slide off his finger into the water. The bottom of the lake was thick muck. Because of my previous ring find at the lake he gave me a call. I was up at Wasaga Beach, headed home to Erin to pick up my scuba gear and tanks and then directly to Pike Lake.

I met Shawn did a quick interview, put my scuba gear on and took out both my Minelab Excallibur 2 and the Scuba Tector ready.

Anywhere from 3″ to 16″ of MUCK with zero visibility at times. The first ring I pulled out and went to the surface and said « I found it ». I described the ring as Shawn was on the beach and he said that it wasn’t his….then came the 2nd ring….then a pair of sunglasses. Shawn had to head back home with his young Family. Within 20 minutes of him leaving….B-O-O-M…I found his unique ring

I send him a text message with a picture of his ring to say « this look familiar? » They were ecstatic!! I met Sean’s wife the following day to return his ring. Unfortunately, I didn’t find her sunglasses but I’ve been invited back by the Park owners!

The ring on the left (middle photo) is the Pike Lake owners Daughter’s Husband’s wedding band with the Italian sunglasses belonging to her Friend visiting from California. DOUBLE WHAMMY!!

Video coming soon!

Still another ring to be returned to it’s rightful owner…..and an invite back in 2018!!

not 1 but 3!!

Beausoleil Island, Port Severn, Ontario~Lost late Grandmother’s 18k white gold engagement ring in waters of Georgian Bay

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

2017-09-04 Beausoleil Island, Honey Harbour, Port Severn, Ontario

Received a phone call from Zac that his girlfriend Lauren was washing her hair in the water when her dog jumped in and her late Grandmother’s recently gifted to her went flying off her finger. Lauren was devastated!!!

So I made arrangement to come flying up Hwy 400 that day and meet Zac at the boat launch as we were headed to an Island cottage.

Lauren explained the area and I was limited to half of a scuba tank. I started grinding and pulled up some crazy items….large nails, old brass table light switch, some coins and lots of metal. Zac had said to try further over. After an hour he jumped it and used the small Scuba Tector I had brought along while I continued with the Minelab Excallibur 2. I went back to the original location and within 20 minute….B-O-O-M….FOUND Lauren’s late Grand Mother’s engagement ring. WHAT A BEAUTY. 18k WHITE GOLD ….. PRICELESS XO

I secretly hinted to my Daughter to start filming….and then SURPRISED THEM. Lauren shrieked in sheer relief. She was very grateful.

Here’s the video! WARNING…. ONE LOUD SWEAR WORD….LOL

One relieved client

Pike Lake~Minto, Ontario~Late Uncle’s lost wedding band recovered & returned from the water

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

2017-08-14 – Pike Lake, Ontario

Heather R from Milton, Ontario was recommended by a mutual Friend for me to assist in the recovery of her late Uncle Paul’s lost wedding band. He lost his wedding band approximately 6 or 7 years ago at a dock area of Pike Lake while washing his hands in the water. At the time of the lose they couldn’t find his ring and notched out a mark on the dock.

Heather, Greg & Max picked me up and proceeded promptly to Pike Lake that day.

I found a few items (fishing hook/coins and metal) and with-in 20 minutes I found her late Uncle’s wedding band. Heather proceeded to call her Aunt to verify and it was with happy tears confirmed to be his.

A few days later we all met Heather’s Aunt in Brampton for the joyous return of their now Family Heirloom.

I have myself a great new Friend of Heather and her Family and look forward to going back to Pike Lake (with permission) to clean up their beach!! Labour of Love!

Thank you Heather for you and your Aunt’s charitable donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation!! Grateful for your kindness!
