Lost wedding ring found in Lake Michigan with a metal detector

This call started with a call from a local Detectorists asking for help locating a ring in 3 feet of water in Lake Michigan. He had been to the site twice already and couldn’t find the ring so he called me asking for help.

I called and talked to Laura to get some more information and then met up with DAVE that night after work. As I was setting up some snowplow steaks to make a grid pattern DAVE got a signal further to the south of his original search area. He was standing up in the water because the waves are about 2 1/2 foot high. He asked me to come over and examine the signal to see what it sounded like to me. Detector makes one tone for every target. I said it sounds good. I took two scoops to get it in my target pulled the ring out, handed it today for him to make the return to Laura.

Lost Gold ring found in Suttons Bay, Mi with a metal detector.

  • from Traverse City (Michigan, United States)

I received a text from Michael that he needed help finding the Gold wedding ring he had placed in the cup holder of a beach chair.

He and his wife packed up to go home, forgetting about the ring in the cup holder.

This beach gets hit by metal detectors almost daily. I told Michael I would leave immediately to get this ring before someone gets it tomorrow morning.

I got to the beach, found Michel, and set up a grid line. Walked about 10 feet and got a 12:23 signal on the ctx3030. I knew if this were the ring, it would be a wider, bigger ring.

I brushed the sand with my foot, exposing the ring. It was just what I thought it would be, a big old chunk of Gold. I always like finding Gold!
