Lost Ring Recovered at Buckeye Hot Springs, CA

September 8, 2025: Received a call from a previous pendant-recovery client with a new search request for a lost silver ring near Buckeye Hot Springs, in the Eastern Sierra Mountains, near Bridgeport, CA. This search was a first for me, the client had lost his ring during a vehicle accident. Five days previously, while avoiding an oncoming high-speed Sprinter Van on a blind corner, his vehicle slid off the gravel road, down a steep embankment, rolling several times, during which he and his dog were ejected. Fortunately, both escaped without suffering serious injuries. During the multiple rollovers, his silver ring was tossed from the vehicle, lost somewhere on the steep, sage covered slope.
When I arrived on September 9th, the only evidence of the accident were ripped up sagebrush, broken windshield glass, dislodged rocks, small broken plastic parts and tire drag ruts from the vehicle recovery. Swinging the detector coil between the sage on the steep slope was difficult. After an hour and twenty minutes of searching, I started to doubt whether the ring was actually tossed from the vehicle. Maybe the ring was lodged inside the wrecked vehicle that was recovered. As I began a final search, I thought I’d check up by the edge of the gravel road, thinking perhaps the ring had fallen out of the vehicle during the wreck recovery process. About a foot from the gravel road lip, I got a good repeatable signal. Moved a few inches of loose dirt and gravel with my hand and boom! Silver Ring found!
