14 Karat Gold Wedding Ring Found in Grass by Backyard Pond
Neil was bass fishing in his backyard pond right before sunset. Typical for South Florida, mosquitoes began landing on his legs. As he swiped at them, his 14 karat gold wedding ring slipped from his finger and landed in the short grass along the pond’s edge. He had yet to realize that the ring had gone missing. Once he realized it was gone, panic set in. He searched the grassy area for about 30 minutes before going inside of his house to call his mother for support. His mother did a quick Google search and found my Ring Finders page. Neil called me and we discussed the situation and every detail of the hour leading up to his realization that the ring went missing
After receiving the call to help locate the ring, I arrived at the residence in 45 minutes. The young man placed me in the vicinity of where he thought he lost it, and I began searching the grassy area with my metal detector. Mosquitoes were coming from all directions! We were both covered with them. Luckily, I had taken precautions against them prior to leaving my house as my legs were covered with thick sweat pants and I wore a long sleeve shirt. After one solid target turned out to be a coin, I slowly moved forward. Then, that savory tone we all love hearing!
Within five minutes, I recovered the ring. Once found, the young man was elated to have his cherished wedding ring back. It was my first successful lost ring recovery as a member of The Ring Finders, and a reminder that even a small patch of grass can hide valuable jewelry.
Neil and I hightailed our way back through his yard and into his house. We couldn’t get away from those pesky mosquitoes fast enough! Once inside, he announced to his wife that I had found his ring. Neil referred to me as The King of Metal Detectors when describing my hunt for the ring. We were both feeling the thrill of this recovery. Neil shook my hand and stated that I could fish his pond anytime I wanted. And, I just might take him up on that offer…in February, when the mosquito population is at its lowest level. lol
I’m proud of our accomplishment. Together, we were able to get Neil out of the doghouse. Then, I received a text from him today that he wanted me to share;
“I only got married 4 months ago and sure enough I had a stroke of bad luck and lost my ring while fishing behind my house. I spent 30 minutes before the sunset desperately trying to find it but with no luck. I was able to contact Sean and he responded to me immediately. No more than 45 minutes later he was on site and managed to find my ring in 2 minutes!! Highly recommend you give him a call – 5 stars”
