The ring that didn’t get away Vacationing on Hilton Head SC.

  • from Hilton Head Island (South Carolina, United States)

Tom was relaxing on his balcony while enjoying the beautiful weather on Hilton Head Island. Toms wedding band was irritating him slightly and he placed his ring on his pinky finger. While Tom was relaxing, he fiddled with his ring and felt it slip off his pinky finger, as he went to grab the ring it dropped from sight. A second later he heard the distinctive sound of a piece of metal hitting a tin roof. Tom and others searched for quite sometime before he felt it maybe gone forever. Tom came across theringfinders and sent me a text. I couldn’t get there that day and set it up for a few days later. Finally, Tom and I met up and he showed me the area where his balcony is, and I immediately began asking questions. Tom had told me this would be his second lost wedding band if not found. His first lost ring was let’s say completely unrecoverable. Well, I wasn’t about to let this happen!!!

Based on all the questions I asked, I guesstimated a potential spot where it may have landed. I fired up the Deus 2 and set my settings. My second pass went over a solid 86 tone. I swung it a couple more times as I thought nah, this isn’t it…… and as I did, I moved the pine needles and seen the distinct glint of gold………………………..BANG BABY! I looked up at Tom and said, found it ! It literally took me 10 seconds; Tom was extremely relieved, and happy. This one didn’t get away!!!!

Lost Ring On The Fourth of July Savannah Ga !

  • from Hilton Head Island (South Carolina, United States)

With bombs (fireworks) bursting in air and celebrations with people waving their hands in the air, a ring sparkled in the night as it flew from the finger of the Mrs. X into the darkness of the night. I received a text from Mr. & Mrs. X concerning a lost ring from the night before while celebrating the Independance of our Nation. Totally devastated and discouraged after purchasing a beginner hobby detector and not being able to recover her ring Mrs. X found The Ring Finders website, and eventually me. I setup the time to be available and traveled to meet Mr. & Mrs. X. As I was driving the weather turned very stormy, strong winds lightning (YIKES) thunder and heavy rain. I finally arrived to a steady pouring of rain , not to hard but steady. I met with Mrs. X and she described her actions leading up to the ring coming off. I started looking and as I did the rain began to pour harder, the lightning came closer until a CRACK of lightning maybe 100-200 yards away made me say, STOP. I came back onto the porch, and I spoke with Mrs. X for a while until the lightning subsided and the rain slowed. I started again and as Mr. X pulled into the driveway, i came across a strong loud signal, as I looked down, I could see the edge of white gold peeking out from under a grass blade. I turned off my detector, looked up at Mrs. X and she said did you find something? I looked at her and smiled a little and said, yes, I did, it’s your ring, she couldn’t see it, so she didn’t get as excited until I reached down and pulled it out from under the grass blade and showed it to her. At that moment Mr. X was walking up the path toward me and Mrs. X seen the ring and the relief of seeing her ring took so much anguish and desperation (of possibly never seeing her ring again) away from her. (That is the moment I wait for when I recover an item for each person who has lost something dear to them). Recovered Ring

Tybee Island The Family Heirloom Lost Ring Recovery

  • from Hilton Head Island (South Carolina, United States)

A ring of significance and family history. The wedding band that took its own little vacation. While playing in the waves with her children Leah noticed her wedding band had come off. Frantic and unsure what to do the family set about seeing what they could do to resolve this.

I was called by Leahs Aunt to help find the mischievous ring that wanted to play in the waves. I arrived and assured the Aunt I would be the one to find the ring………there were two other detectorists scanning the area. I listened to the aunt tell me of the location and began my search. After four passes, leaving drag marks in the wet sand, Leah came out to me to say she believed they were down the beach about 10-15 feet more. Leahs last words to me when she left me on the beach to search, « What do you think the odds are of finding it? » In my head I thought if your meant to have it, I shall find it…..Verbally, I said the odds are very good as it has only been one day and it should be withing 4-7 inches deep, which is very easy to find……. As Leah went back to the dry sand area to wait, I made two passes and heard the sound every detectorist loves to hear, the sound of gold ringing in their ears, I knew instantly, this was her ring, I dug it out and seen the oh so familiar glint of gold and the description of a wide band gold ring in the sand glistening up at me. The mischievous ring was tired of playing in the sand and wanted to go back to its place upon Leahs finger. I started walking to where the family was, Leah came down to meet me, she asked if I found it, I told her I found a penny…..(which I did) then I said and your ring as I held it out for her. The joy and smile on Leahs face is the part I find so rewarding, a lost treasure returned……….And the roar of Joy from the family on the beach…………………

Leah is meant to have this ring and possibly gift it to her daughter one day…………

Backyard Recovery

  • from Hilton Head Island (South Carolina, United States)

On Feb 6th I received a text from Ben stating he lost his wedding band in his backyard. Ben described how he was waving his hand at his dogs and he watched his ring fly off his hand into the ivy ground cover. Ben was very accurate about where he lost it, So I fired up the Deus2 and began my sweeps after a couple minutes of Ben directing, I got the signal. The ivy was thick and about 6″ deep and very viny, using my pin pointer i seen the glint of gold. The ring had actually worked its way down into the vines, needless to say Ben was relieved to have his ring back.

The house has history as Ben was telling me, his wife had lost her ring off the front porch a few years back and she found Ring Finders website and had a guy from my area, that is no longer with RF come out and recovered her ring.

Amazing recoveries made that day and in the past………………

Coligny Beach Ring Recovery ….Lost and found…….

  • from Hilton Head Island (South Carolina, United States)

I received a text from Dan around 10pm saying he lost his wedding band playing with his daughter in the small waves on the beach. Dan had his wife drop a GPS pin and sent me the info. I told Dan I would check the early morning low tide, I searched for a few hours and gave up when the tide had changed. Late afternoon, I came back and gave it another shot, Dan and family were playing at the waters edge and my back was to them as I worked the edge and then I heard it……the sound of gold……I dug it and knew from the description, it was Dans wedding band, I clutched it in my hand and walked back to Dan telling him I was pretty tired as I opened my hand in front of him……….His eyes widened with shock and realization his ring was not lost any longer……………a very good moment indeed. Dan shared the news with his wife and family, all very surprised and relieved knowing his ring was back where it belonged. I am very happy to have been able to find Dans ring and return it to him. Keep coming back for vacations knowing you are not leaving anything important behind.

Hilton Head Island Ring Recovery, See Sally Smile !!!

  • from Hilton Head Island (South Carolina, United States)

I received a call from Sally stating she just lost her ring (a ring handed down from her husband’s grandmother, no less…. YIKES) about an hour before and gave me excellent clues to where she lost it, within feet!!!! So, I was already planning on going out when the tide receded. The moon wasn’t out and the wind was blowing pretty good and the waves were crashing heavily, I started at the water edge but not in the dry sand, I gridded about 12 feet down as the tide receded with no luck and thought, it must have come off in the dry sand, so I went to where the wagon tracks (as described by Sally) and circled out from there, the all so familiar sound of a great target sounded off, as I scooped and sifted I could see the ring appear. A beautiful white gold solitaire diamond ring as described. It was a little late and knowing Sally had a little one, I waited till the next morning. Then I kind of tricked Sally the next morning by texting her and stating I needed help with the location, could she walk me out. We agreed to meet at 9am. When we met I asked Sally if she had a picture of the ring, she said somewhere in her phone as she began to look, I said,  Well wait here let’s take one now, as I handed Sally her ring, the realization on her face and then the emotion of having it back, after already accepting it could be lost forever and then the smile of knowing it wasn’t…………The moment all recoveries are about, that look of astonishment and pure happiness………..Vacation saved !!!!

Special thanks to Jim Wren N. Myrtle Beach for referring me. Somehow, Jim came up in the directory for Sally.

Lost Platinum Ring Playing Football on the Beach at Grand Ocean Resort Hilton Head Island

  • from Hilton Head Island (South Carolina, United States)

After arriving to their condo on Monday, In the first twenty minutes on the beach Richard was playing football with his son, when he went to catch the football, the ball hit his finger and his ring went flying off. Fastforward a day later Tuesday around 4pm, I was hunting in a different area, and another detectorist mention a guy lost his platinum ring and he had looked with no luck, I didn’t think anything of it as I wasn’t sure of the location, all he said was a brief general area. Saturday came and I was detecting/hunting a normal area and decided to walk down to the general area I was told about, because I wasn’t finding any targets.  Needless to say, after a good 30-minute swinging walk, I found the ring, but I didn’t have any info how to find the owner. As fate kicks in….. A couple kids were playing on the beach and asked me if I found any rings (actually the 4th kid that asked in 50 minutes). Me bragging as  I like seeing their eyes light up when I say oh yeah, I found 2 rings, well this kid says my dad lost a silver looking ring, with a braid design, (The ring I just found).  I asked where his father was, and he said he was coming back to the beach, he was at the pool area, as I was getting his dads phone number he said, there’s my dad now, so he runs to his dad saying I had found some silver rings, I asked the gentleman to describe his ring, He said Platinum with a braid design, as they gathered around Richard, family and friends, I pull the ring out of my pocket and handed it to Richard, he was amazed, he had been searching each day since he lost it. The relief of having his wedding band back was priceless. Richard’s anniversary is 3 days away……Now he has even more reason to celebrate……………..
